Newcastle: What started as a small prayer group in January 2010 has come a long way in the last 7 months span. To add momentum to this spirited effort the group now has a name called Tyneside Association of Malayalees (TAM).

A unanimous decision to this effect was taken at a Barbeque Party held at Heaton Park on July 28th.

Fifteen families from among the 20 families who live in Longbenton,Forest Hall and Killingworth gathered together and spend some quality time getting to know each other and playing popular games like football, kabaddi, and badminton.

A core committee comprising of four members has been formed to take things forward.

A long term plan to formulate strategy and to move in a planned direction will be done in due course of time.

The members of the Association felt the need to organise regular get-togethers and outings apart from the monthly prayer that is currently taking place. This will strengthen community cohesion and imparting our traditions to our children.
