Mammootty to become 'Kerala chief minister'

KOCHI Jan 12: Mammootty is all set to play the role of chief minister and popular leader in the new film directed by Santosh Viswanath whose earlier film "Chirakodinja kinaavukal" was a big hit.

The script of the new political thriller is by Bobby-Sanjay duo.  The film's shooting will start by the end of the year,  Santosh told Madhyamam.

The hero will demonstrate to the audience how a chief minister should conduct himself in the existing politics of Kerala.  Since his role is of a leader of the people, only Mammootty can enact this role,  Santhosh said.

It is after a gap of 27 years that Mammootty is hitting the screen as a political leader.  The previous role he played was in the 1991 Balachandra Menon hit film Nayam Vyakthamaakkunn'.

Subsequently in 1995,  he enacted a similar role in the Tamil film of R K Shelvamani Makkal Achi.

Santhosh Viswanath's "Chirakodinja Kinavukal" starring Sreenivasan,  Kunchacko Boban and Rima Kallingal,  was a box office hit.
