Fahadh Faasil, Yesudas, Jayaraj bag top honours at 65th National Film Awards

KOCHI April 14: The 65th National Film Awards are announced Friday and Malayalam won big with many top titles in its kitty. 
Actor Fahad Fazil won the best supporting actor for the Malayalam film ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’. The film, directed by Dileesh Pothan, won the Best Malayalam Film Award, and the award for the Best Screenplay (Sajeev Pazhoor).
Jayaraj was named the best director and the best adapted screenplay writer for his Malayalam film ‘Bhayanakam’. It also won the best cinematography award.
Veteran singer K J Yesudas was recognised as the best male singer for his song ‘Poy Maranja Kalam’ in the Malayalam film ‘Viswasapoorvam Mansoor’. 
Malayalam film ‘Aalorumkkam’ was recognised as the best film on social issues.
Actor Parvathy, who was touted to be a contender for the Best Actress award, got a special mention instead for ‘Take Off’. The film also won the award for the Best Production Design.
Fahadh Faasil, known for his realistic acting and choice of interesting roles, has been a recipient of the prestigious Kerala State film awards several times.
In 2011, he won the award for Best Supporting actor category for his films ‘Akam’ and ‘Chaappa Kurishu’. In 2013, he won the State award for Best actor for the films ‘Artist’ and ‘North 24 Kaatham.’
Malayali technicians Sanal George and Justin Jose won the award for the sound design and re-recordist for the Ladakhi film ‘Walking with the wind.’
