Aneesha, the girl who fell in love with the priest (WATCH SHORT FILM VIDEO)

KOCHI Nov 14: Netizens and movie buffs have been going gaga over a new Malayalam short film and its lead actress, who has taken social media by storm.

Titled Ente Hridhayathinte Vadakku Kizhakke Attathu (roughly translated as At the North East Corner of My Heart), the film portrays the theme of unrequited love.

Written directed by Anup Narayanan, the short tells the story of a college girl who falls in love with a classmate, who is set to become a Catholic priest.

The film has already garnered over 22 lakh views on YouTube and is being widely shared on social media platforms, such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

Aneesha Ummer, who plays the film's female lead, has drawn praise from both celebrities and netizens alike for her impressive portrayal of the role of Priya, the college student.

The youngster has achieved overnight stardom and social media users have been searching the internet for more details about her. Here is all you wanted to know about Aneesha:

Though Aneesha hails from Malappuram, she was born and brought up near Surat in Gujarat. She had a keen interest in acting even from her school days. Aneesha moved to Bangalore for her college and that's where she got the opportunity to act in a Kannada short film; her first acting gig.

After college, Aneesha got placed as an air hostess with IndiGo and worked with the airline for some time. It was around the same time that she emerged as the runner-up at the 2012 Navy Queen pageant held in Kochi. And that's when she started getting modelling opportunities from Kerala.

Pursuing a career in modelling and acting, Aneesha moved to Kochi with her parents and also started learning acting at Actlab, an acting school in Kochi. She also learnt Zumba dancing and eventually became a Zumba instructor.

Aneesha has already acted in more than 20 short films so far and was also part of a full-length feature titled Maanasaandarapetta Yezdi. But this is the first time she has found the spotlight.

Since she was born and brought up outside Kerala, Aneesha's Malayalam isn't perfect. However, in Ente Hridhayathinte... she had herself voiced her character. "Usually I don't dub for my films. However, this time the director insisted that I should dub for the role myself. I think it also helped in portraying the emotions of the character well," she said.

When asked if she has ever fallen in love, like her character Priya, Aneesha said: "I think everyone would have fallen in love and gone through a heartbreak at least once. As an actor, you should take it all in your stride. Each experience, both good and bad, helps you make a better actor."
