Kudumbasree hotels in Kerala to become ‘Makani’

Malappuram July 21:  Kudumbasree hotels that dole out trustworthy delicacies are to get a homogenous character.
They will be known by “Malabar Makani”. The first such hotels will go operational under this brand in two months in Malappuram district.
As well as having identical colour and décor, the eateries will flaunt similar signboards and menu after Coffee Houses. There are eighty seven Kudumbasree funded hotels and canteens in Malappuram district.
Alongside, hundreds of other eateries, floated by loans from Kudumbasree, will also be turned into Malabar Makanies.
Kudumbasre will step up assistance to similar ventures. Bank loans at 40 percentage subsidy will be allocated as per requirement. Ten percentage of the total project value will be made available in revolving fund manner.
This can be used for both raising building and purchasing hotel equipment. Using them, members can earn revenue, while further expanding the infrastructure.
Those require fund can apply at C.D.C offices. One hotel in this scheme will go operational in Kutilangadi here. Many mock kudumbasree hotels are being run in the state.
Most of them are large scale men-only establishments. With Kudumbasree hotels getting a homogenous character, similar exploitation can be checked, says CK Hemalatha, Kudumbasree Mission coordinator.
