Smoke ice cream banned in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram May 10: The production, storage, distribution and sales of smoke ice creams, soft drinks and other food items made using liquid nitrogen has been banned in the state.
While consuming the ice creams and soft drinks made using liquid nitrogen, smoke will come out the user’s mouth.
This widely attracts children and youth to smoke ice cream products. Food Safety Commissioner M. G. Rajamanickam informed that the ban order was issued in view of public health and elimination of serious health issues due to the use of such products.
Legal actions including prosecution will be taken against those who violate the ban order. If liquid nitrogen is found to have used in ice creams or soft drinks, the public is directed to contact in the police.
