Varappuzha custody deaths: A V George questioned, may be made accused

KOCHI May 10: Former Aluva SP A V George was questioned on Wednesday by the investigation team probing the custodial death of Sreejith, who was mistaken for the accused Sreejith.
 
The questioning under investigation team headed by Crime branch IG S Sreejith, which started in noon on Wednesday, continued for about three and a half hours.  
 
The investigation team would reportedly take a decision later on whether to make him an accused or not, in the case. Meanwhile, there are hints that George may be made accused and would be arrested shortly.
 
The hint is that Sreejith and team are in possession of more than ten evidence against George. There are also a reported move to suspend him, pending inquiry. He is currently the Assistant Director in Thrissur Police Academy.
 
According to sources, George was on Wednesday questioned three times. The police were able to get the evidence of George going out his way to help the tainted Rural Tiger Force members.
 
Moreover, he tried to save the face of the police men accused in the case. The investigation team collected the evidence through intelligence operation.
 
CI Crispin Sam had earlier given the statement that Sreejith was taken into custody as instructed by SP George. With this statement, the investigation turned towards SP.
