No more ‘nooku kooli’ in Kerala from May 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM March 9: The meeting of loading and unloading labourers held in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to end the tradition of ‘nooku kooli’ (labour charge for watching over) from May 1, which is the international Labour Day.
 
The trade unions supported the decision taken by the government regarding this. It has also been decided to end the tradition of the trade unions supplying labourers.
 
The CM had earlier announced in the Assembly that he would end all bad practices such as nooku kooli but there were still complaints of nooku kooli being addressed from many parts of the state.
 
The CM called for the meeting of labourers under this circumstance.
