Stale food provided on Kerala trains: Commission orders inquiry

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Aug 10: State Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into the complaint that stale and unhygienic food was being served on trains and railway stations.
Commission Acting Chief P Mohandas instructed South Railway Division Manager and Food Safety Commissioner to inquire into the complaint and give explanation within three weeks.
Human Rights activist PK Raju in his complaint had said that stale food was being served on trains.
“Long-distance travellers usually buy food from platforms. Many of those who take food here are developing health discomforts half way through the journey. Bills are also not given for food sold at platforms,” the complaint said.
