KSRTC wants exclusion from hartal

THIRUVANANTHAPURM May 11: KSRTC MD Tomin Thachankary has requested the government to call an all-party meeting to decide on permanently excluding KSRTC buses also along with milk, newspaper and hospital.

“Any hartal is a major setback for institutions, struggling to get over the financial crisis. The damage to buses inflicted by hartal supporters is a loss that comes in addition to the loss due to suspension of services.

Even regional hartals are badly affecting the KSRTC.    Since it is people’s institution, their travel freedom should be protected.

Many people and tourists are depending on KSRTC buses to travel to interior areas. During hartal thousands of people get stranded in KSRTC bus stands, Railway stations and airports.

The recent Whatsapp hartal had brought a loss of Rs 40 lakh to the KSRTC,” he said.
