UUKMA to join hands with Kerala Tourism to conduct first ever boat race in UK

LONDON May 19: UUKMA (Union of UK Malayalees Associations), a community of Malayalee associations based out of UK, is joining hands with Kerala government to promote Kerala Tourism in the UK. 
 
Towards this, they are organizing a grand event that would also include the much popular water sport of Kerala - Boat race. 
 
This will be conducted in association with the departments of Tourism, Culture and Non-Resident Keralites Affairs of Kerala government. 
 
Traditional art and dance forms of Kerala will be staged as part of this event. Exhibition stalls at the venue will provide information on the tourist attractions from Kerala. 
 
 
The event will be conducted at the Midlands of Warwickshire on Saturday,  29th of July, 2017. Various departments of Kerala government including NORKA will be coming together to conduct this event.
 
Through this grand event, UUKMA intends to promote Kerala Tourism by introducing the rich culture of Kerala, its performance-arts and martial art forms and the grand cuisine of Kerala to even the interior lands of Britain.
 
The formal inauguration of team registrations for the baot race was done last week by visiting Indian MP Joice George by receiving the registration fee from Friends Of Kent, which becomes the first team to register. The fee was received from Joshy Cyriac, who is member of Sahrudaya organisation based in Tunbridge Wells and also captain of Kottayam Olassa Friends Boat Club back in Kerala.
 
The registration inauguration event, held in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, was presided by Tito Thomas, who is UUKMA's Kerala Tourism Promotion Club's vice chairman. 
 
UUKMA secretary Rogimon Varghese made the introductory speech, Boat Race General Convenor Advocate Eby Sebastian, Boat Race In-Charge Jacob Koyippally, UUKMA PRO Balasajeev Kumar spoke during the event. UUKMA Regional secreatry Ajith Venmani proposed the vote of thanks.
 
 
The whole event was hosted in Tunbridge Wells by Bibin Abraham, Albert George, Shino Thuruthiyil and Jaison George.
 
Teams those who wish to register should submit the names of the full twenty members who will be part of their rowing team. Registration fee for private club is £500. Malayalee associations need to pay only £300 as registration fees. The rowers will receive free jersey from the organisers.
